BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced three projects for Buffalo’s waterfront totaling $24 million.
The Democrat says the projects are intended to build on the region’s economic growth and attract more visitors by expanding access to the water and highlighting the area’s history.
The plans include $10 million to create a network of public access points along the Buffalo River and other waterways. Another $10 million will go toward redeveloping a 2-acre parcel where Memorial Auditorium stood until being demolished. The remaining $4 million has been set aside for a 4,000-square-foot facility to build a replica 1825 Erie Canal packet boat.
The boat will be berthed in Buffalo and be available for rides, tours and lectures.
