David Glosser, uncle of senior White House aide Stephen Miller, denounced on Monday the immigration policies his nephew helped create, arguing it would have stranded their family in Nazi-controlled territory.

In an op-ed published by Politico, Mr. Glosser said Mr. Miller’s maternal ancestors would not have made it to America if they faced current immigration policies.

“I have watched with dismay and increasing horror as my nephew, who is an educated man and well aware of his heritage, has become the architect of immigration policies that repudiate the very foundation of our family’s life in this country,” Mr. Glosser said.

Mr. Glosser chronicled how Mr. Millers’ family came to American because of chain migration, a target of the Trump administration. Sam Glosser, Mr. Miller’s great-grandfather, was only able to arrive in the U.S. because two other family members sent their earnings from working in a sweatshop.

Mr. Glosser suggested Mr. Miller and the president are ignoring their immigrant roots to justify their policies.

“Acting for so long in the theater of right-wing politics, Stephen and Trump may have become numb to the resultant human tragedy and blind to the hypocrisy of their policy decisions,” Mr. Glosser said, “After all, Stephen’s is not the only family with a chain immigration story in the Trump administration.”

He suggested Mr. Miller’s great-grandfather would have likely been killed by Nazis had they stayed or hesitated to come to America. Mr. Glosser argued President Trump was akin to Nazis in the 1920s because of policies that were based on ethnicity, nationality and religious.

“Trump publicly parades the grieving families of people hurt or killed by migrants, just as the early Nazis dredged up Jewish criminals to frighten and enrage their political base to justify persecution of all Jews,” he wrote.
