SOUTH ROYALTON, Vt. (AP) - A senior attorney for a regional environmental group has been named the new director of the Vermont Law School’s Environmental Law Center.
The appointment of Jennifer Rushlow of the Conservation Law Foundation was announced this week.
Rushlow will replace David Mears, the former commissioner of Vermont’s Department of Environmental Conservation, who announced in June that he was leaving to pursue other opportunities.
The Valley News reports Rushlow’s most recent work has focused on agriculture and food policy, though she also has a background in climate law, clean energy, transportation and environmental justice. In 2016 she was named a Lawyer of the Year by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, for her work on a climate law case.
Rushlow says that training environmental law leaders “is more important now than ever.”
