PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is planning to build a new clinic in southern Maine.
The Portland Press Herald reports that the agency is seeking a developer for a potential two-story clinic that could be located in Portland or South Portland. Proposals are due Sept. 10.
The agency hopes the new clinic could open by winter 2021 and have enough parking space for 400 cars.
The facility will offer lab work, dental and eye care, mental health care and rehabilitation services. It will also offer cardiology, oncology and other medical specialties a few days a month.
The proposal calls for a lease up to 20 years.
A small outpatient veterans clinic currently operates in Portland, while the state’s main veterans facility is near Augusta.
