LAS VEGAS (AP) - Democratic Rep. Jacky Rosen has come in for criticism from her election opponent for skipping two events in her district this week, including the opening of a new section of Interstate 11.

Republican Sen. Dean Heller suggested Rosen thought it more important to raise funds in California -something he’s also spent time doing this year.

Rosen’s campaign wouldn’t provide details but said “she wasn’t available” to attend the Interstate 11 opening or veterans’ home anniversary celebration because of previously scheduled events. Her office didn’t respond to messages.

A California man tweeted a photo Wednesday night that appears to show him at a fundraiser with Rosen.

The first term congresswoman is challenging Heller for his seat in a race that’s considered one of the closest battles for the Senate this year.

Gov. Brian Sandoval also skipped the Interstate 11 opening.
