July was Burlington’s hottest month on record

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The National Weather Service has confirmed that July was the hottest month on record in Burlington, Vermont.

The weather service says the average temperature for the month was 76 degrees. The previous record was 75.3 degrees, which was set in July 1921.

July also broke a record for the most days above 85 degrees at 21. The previous record of 20 days was set in July 1955 and matched in 1975 and 1999.

The warmest night ever recorded in Burlington was July 2 at 80 degrees.

Burlington experienced a heat wave early in the summer that lasted from June 30 to July 5.

Warmer weather is expected to last through the first week of August, with temperatures ranging from the low to upper 80s.
