NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Republican U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn has released her first TV ad in her Senate bid.
In the statewide ad released Wednesday, Blackburn says her family had a mantra growing up about leaving things in better shape than you found them and giving back more than you take.
She says in the commercial that when she went to Congress, somebody asked if she would go to fit in, or to stand out.
Blackburn continues by saying she’s “in this fight so that we can win, and the ’we’ is the people, the Constitution, the country.”
Blackburn’s presumptive opponent, Democratic ex-Gov. Phil Bredesen, has been running TV ads since March. Many focus on his message of staying independent in Washington.
Polls show a close race to succeed retiring Republican Sen. Bob Corker.
