Ronda Rousey wins WWE debut at WrestleMania 34

Ronda Rousey made her wrestling debut at WWE’s WrestleMania 34 Sunday in New Orleans and won her first bout.

Rousey and Kurt Angle, as tag-team partners, defeated Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Stephanie McMahon.

Rousey later said it was the “biggest stadium I’ve ever performed in front of,” roughly “the size of four (UFC) fights.”

“I underestimated how kind the WWE universe would be,” Rousey told ESPN. “I thought any outsiders would be shunned. I was expecting to get shunned and to have to battle to be accepted. I worked my a— off to pay respect to what’s so important to them, and hopefully they saw that tonight.”

Rousey officially signed her WWE contract at an “Elimination Chamber” event in February and slammed Triple H, a WWE executive vice president, through a table to boot.

The former UFC champion joined the wrestling label after spending 2017 out of the limelight. She lost her final two UFC bouts after starting her mixed martial arts career 12-0. 

“I thought I would never say this, but I’m so happy I lost those [two UFC] fights because it led me here,” she said. “This is so worth it. I wish I could say it was worth 100 losses, but it’s about two. Everything really does happen for a reason.”
