SEATTLE (AP) - The chair of the King County Democrats has resigned after weeks of fighting allegations of harassment, intimidation and creation of a hostile work environment.
The Seattle Times reports 26-year-old Bailey Stober resigned Sunday at the end of a 13-hour party meeting in which the accusations were debated.
The allegations centered on Stober’s alleged mistreatment of the party’s former executive director, a woman he fired earlier this year.
A memo from the party vice chairs said Stober repeatedly called her derogatory names and used offensive and sexist insults when she declined to go out drinking with him.
The memo also said Stober had spent party money unnecessarily, leaving the organization in precarious financial position.
Stober apologized at the meeting to everyone he has hurt through his words, actions and irresponsibility.
