TOWNSHEND, Vt. (AP) - Gov. Phil Scott says an AT&T cell site on wheels has arrived at a hospital in southern Vermont to improve cell service, following news that a financially troubled company could end its cellphone coverage, including the capacity to call 911.
Last month, state officials told legislators that Vanu CoverageCo would likely cease operations in Vermont.
The company is now working with the state to try to keep the service running.
The Republican governor said Monday that ensuring that Grace Cottage Hospital does not have a lapse in wireless network coverage was a priority.
Scott says AT&T has plans for a permanent cell site in Townshend as part of its FirstNet nationwide first responder network.
