CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A trial is underway in Cheyenne in the case of a woman charged with the April 2017 death of her 16-month-old son.
The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports two doctors testified Friday that Sabrina Sawicki’s son died of non-accidental traumatic head injuries.
Sawicki is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.
Prosecutors say she offered different stories about how the boy was injured, initially saying she was carrying him and he hit his head as he left the bathroom after a bath. Her sister-in-law testified Sawicki said the boy slipped in the bathtub and hit his head and later said he hit his head running out of the bathroom.
Defense attorneys have also suggested the boy could have drowned.
The trial continues Monday before District Judge Steven Sharp.
