Undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. may have a surprise final act in him.

Mayweather said Saturday night that if he were to come out of retirement, he would do so to fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

“It is possible I do come back, but if I do come back, it has to be in the Octagon,” Mayweather said.

In an interview on Showtime promoting a boxing tripleheader in Las Vegas, Mayweather, 41, admitted that “retirement has been great, but as you know and everyone knows, I go in retirement and I come back.” He came out of retirement in 2009 to continue boxing, and again in 2017 to box UFC champion Conor McGregor.

Mayweather defeated McGregor by TKO in the 10th round and improved to 50-0 in his career.

UFC president Dana White is already on board with the idea of bringing Mayweather into the Octagon.

“He knows the money’s right,” White told ESPN. “I’m pretty confident that this will happen.”
