MIAMI (AP) - A New York man has been sentenced to 10 years and four months in prison for stealing $3.5 million from a Florida city to buy sports tickets and resell them online.
Court records show 45-year-old David Miller of Syracuse, New York, was sentenced Friday. He must also pay nearly $1.6 million in restitution. He previously pleaded guilty to bank fraud and aggravated identity theft.
Authorities say Miller stole the money from Miami Beach in 2016 using a stolen identity and bank information. He bought approximately 157 seat licenses at NFL stadiums around the country. He also used stolen funds to buy season and individual game tickets at NFL games and other sporting events.
