PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix officials have committed $13.5 million for Arizona State University to move a graduate school program to downtown.
The city council Wednesday unanimously approved the investment, which will be paid out to the university over nine years after the new Thunderbird School of Global Management facility is operational.
The university announced plans last year to move the school from its campus in Glendale to a vacant site adjacent to the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law.
The city owns the site and will lease it for free for the first 10 years.
The university is planning to construct a $60 million building of at least four stories and 100,000 square feet (9,300 square meters).
Officials expect construction to begin in August 2019 and the building to open by March 2021.
