ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The state Department of Environmental Conservation is looking for lifeguards.

The agency says seasonal lifeguard positions are available at state campgrounds throughout the Adirondack and Catskill parks. The pay is $13.27 an hour and most facilities offer free housing.

People age 16 and older can register for a qualifying procedure involving a demonstration of lifesaving techniques and CPR. The procedure is offered at eight locations between April 15 and June 30.

Lifeguard positions require certification in waterfront lifeguarding, CPR and first aid; completion of the qualifying procedure; and meeting vision and physical fitness requirements.

Employment opportunities for lifeguards and other seasonal jobs are described on DEC’s website.
