OPINION:
Kellye Burke, the Houston-area councilwoman who was outed by media for screaming obscenities at a group of girls in a cookie shop because one wore a “Make American Great Again” T-shirt, was just charged with disorderly conduct.
The fact that this occurred at all only underscores how mentally unstable the left is. How mentally unfit the left was, is and continues to be.
The story unfolds with Burke, a West University Place Councilwoman and the Texas chapter leader for Moms Demand Action on Gun Control, approaching the teens girls at Tiny’s Milk and Cookies, reading with dismay the pro-President Donald Trump shirt worn by one, and losing it.
“Grab ’em by the pu—y girls,” she yelled, KPRC-TV reported.
One of the fathers of the group advised the girls to ignore the lady — “Ignore the nice crazy lady, girls, and she’ll go away!” But apparently, silence only emboldened Burke.
She kept yelling, the father recounted to local media.
“At that point,” he said, the New York Daily News reported, “the girls were getting kind of scared, and then the woman starts going, ’MAGA! MAGA! MAGA!’ while shaking her fist.”
Can you imagine?
But really, this is liberal politicking at its best. Just look to Maxine Waters and her beyond-ludicrous pre-inauguration calls to impeach for an example of normal and accepted rhetoric, lefty style. Just ask Rep. Steve Scalise for how these types of things can often escalate.
Burke ultimately apologized — kind of. But only after news of the incident started making media waves, and only around the time local police were called to cite Burke for disorderly conduct.
“I have repeatedly apologized for the bad judgment I used and making the statement that I did,” Burke said to KPRC. “But I do not believe repeating the words of the president of the United States is a crime. However, I will apologize again on behalf of myself, the president of the United States and all the media outlets who repeated his words both electronically and in print.”
Spoken like a true liberal.
By Burke’s logic, an assault’s not really an assault so long as you’re quoting the president of the United States. Right?
West University Place Mayor Susan Sample released a statement, as well. But it didn’t say much.
“The reported comments definitely do not speak for the city of West University Place’s government or employees,” Sample said, the Star-Telegram reported. ’My position as mayor, however, does not afford me any official authority with respect to matters such as this. … This incident is a reminder that part of our responsibility as elected officials is to set a good example of civil discourse for those we represent, particularly our young people.”
This incident also serves as a good reminder of the mental instability of those of the left. Want to love your liberal neighbor? Recommend a good psychotherapist.
Truly, that’s the bigger lesson learned here.
