LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a car in a northwest suburb.

Police say the 66-year-old male victim was walking near the curb or sidewalk when he was hit by a 2009 Ford Edge at about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday in the Desert Shores development near Harbor Island Drive and Snowmass Drive.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the 49-year-old woman driving the car apparently lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons.

No charges have been filed but an investigation is continuing. Investigators say the driver, Robin Makar of Las Vegas, was not hurt and did not show any signs of impairment.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
