MARQUETTE, Mich. (AP) - A priest from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula who is on administrative leave as authorities investigate a recently-made allegation of sexual misconduct involving a minor in the 1970s is denying the allegation.

The Rev. Frank M. Lenz tells The Mining Journal he maintains his innocence “without reservation.” He says he looks forward to being cleared. He says he read a report about the allegations made Friday by a woman who says she was abused at least a dozen times as a girl.

The Diocese of Marquette announced Monday that the allegations were reported to the Marquette County prosecutor’s office. No charges have been filed.

Lenz retired in 2007 and had senior priest status. He’s now prohibited from public ministry or presenting himself as a priest as the investigation takes place.
