LAS VEGAS (AP) - Clark County officials are planning to apply for more than $6.6 million in state and federal funding to support low-income housing projects.
The Las Vegas Sun reports the county’s Community Development Advisory Committee on Tuesday recommended funding for six projects that plan to create nearly 600 housing units.
Four of the projects seek to build housing units for senior citizens, and the fifth would build 80 units for low-income families. The sixth project plans to construct housing for people with certain neurological conditions and traumatic brain injuries.
Committee Chair Lois Greene says members of the group visited the project sites, heard developers’ presentations and finalized its recommendations last month.
The county will request the funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Nevada Housing Division.
