The Washington Redskins drafted Louisville offensive tackle Geron Christian with the No. 74 overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft on Friday night.
Christian, a 6-foot-5, 298-pound prospect, started every game at left tackle for Louisville from 2015 through 2017. He earned All-ACC honors as either third-team or an honorable mention each year.
Christian was the sixth offensive tackle selected in the draft.
The Redskins’ need on the offensive line was primarily at guard, not tackle. Unless the team believes Christian can convert to an interior lineman and compete for the starting left guard job, he likely will start his career as a backup behind Trent Williams and Morgan Moses.
The Redskins acquired the No. 74 pick from the San Francisco 49ers earlier Friday night when they traded down in the second round.
Washington has one selection each in rounds four through six and two seventh-rounders remaining on Saturday afternoon.
