President Trump praised rapper Kanye West Friday for his “great service” to minorities.
“Kanye West has performed a great service to the Black Community - Big things are happening and eyes are being opened for the first time in Decades - Legacy Stuff! Thank you also to Chance and Dr. Darrell Scott, they really get it (lowest Black & Hispanic unemployment in history),” Mr. Trump tweeted.
Mr. West recently expressed his enthusiastic support for the president in a lengthy series of Twitter posts. He included a photo of a signed “Make America Great Again” hat along with a photo of him wearing the signature Trump campaign accessory.
The rapper also posted photos of texts from his friend and fellow musician John Legend who tried to persuade him to reconsider his support of Mr. Trump. Mr. West remained adamant in his position. His wife, Kim Kardashian West, took to Twitter earlier this week to defend her husband against accusations that he had a mental breakdown.
