LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Redshirt freshman Tyler Vander Waal is listed No. 1 on the final spring depth chart as Wyoming seeks to find a new quarterback to replace NFL bound Josh Allen.

Vander Waal was ranked ahead of senior Nick Smith for the starting job although head coach Craig Bohl emphasized that the quarterback competition, like all other positions on the team, will continue into the fall.

In a statement, Bohl says both quarterbacks did well and made progress during the recently completed spring practices.

He says he thinks it’s important that both quarterbacks know that there is going to be continuing evaluation in the fall.

Allen started the last two years at Wyoming and is considered to be a potential No. 1 pick in Thursday night’s NFL Draft in Dallas.
