The Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins will renew their annual tradition of meeting in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with Game 1 set for Thursday at 7 p.m.
The NHL is waiting on the results of Wednesday’s Game 7 between the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs before announcing details for the remainder of the Capitals-Penguins series.
The Capitals will have home-ice advantage against Pittsburgh for the third year running, meaning Capital One Arena will host Games 1 and 2. Games 5 and 7, if necessary, will also be played in Washington.
Game 1 will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network in the United States and CBC and Sportsnet in Canada. Capitals individual playoff tickets go on sale at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The Washington Wizards will play their Game 6 against the Toronto Raptors Friday night at Capital One, precluding the possibility of hosting a hockey game downtown the same night.
