Washington Capitals forward Andre Burakovsky will miss the rest of the team’s first-round Stanley Cup Playoff series against the Columbus Blue Jackets, coach Barry Trotz announced Friday.
Burakovsky suffered an upper-body injury in Game 2 last Sunday. Rather than travel to Columbus with the team, he stayed behind in Washington to undergo more evaluation.
Burakovsky, who regularly skates with the Capitals’ second line, will need minor surgery, Trotz said.
But there is a possibility he will be available for the Eastern Conference Semifinals if the Capitals advance.
Burakovsky totaled 25 points (12 goals, 13 assists) in 54 games during his fourth season in the NHL. He has scored 10 career playoff points.
