3-year-old’s drowning death ruled accidental

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Police have ruled the Atlanta-area drowning death of a 3-year-old boy as accidental.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution cites a Friday release from Marietta police that says no charges will be filed in the April 4 drowning at a neighborhood lake.

The boy’s mother told police he had disappeared that afternoon from an apartment complex. Authorities found him 30 minutes later in Reeves Lake, which abuts the apartment complex. He later died at a hospital.
