PERU, Neb. (AP) - Students can expect higher residence hall room rates and increased tuition at three Nebraska colleges.
Mandatory fees, tuition and room and board rates will likely rise at Chadron, Peru and Wayne State Colleges in the fall, the Omaha World-Herald reported .
Chadron State’s residence hall room rates at Edna Hall will likely increase by 3.6 percent, from $2,534 per semester to $2,625. Peru State’s rates for a two-person room at Morgan and Delzell Halls may rise by 5 percent, from $2,161 per semester to $2,269. Students at Wayne State could also see two-person room rates at Terrace Hall increase by 1.4 percent, from $1,820 to $1,845 per semester.
Meal plans at the halls currently range from $579 to $2,169 at Peru State; $999 to $1,999 at Wayne State; and $745 to $1,925 for Chadron State on-campus students. The variations depend on how many meals are in a plan and other things such as flex dollars, which can be used at places outside the dining hall.
Chadron State and Wayne State are expected to raise mandatory fees nearly $8 per semester for full-time students. Peru State’s fees will increase by nearly $38 per semester for full-time students.
Mandatory fees are used for events, capital improvements and health centers.
Spokeswoman Angela Melton said the state college system hasn’t set tuition rates. The State College Board of Trustees is expected to meet Friday at Peru State College to discuss the rate increases.
Wayne State has about 3,310 students enrolled, while Chadrona and Peru have 2,740 and 2,350 respectively.
