Entering his second year, linebacker Ryan Anderson apparently got in better shape. The 2017 second-round pick hardly saw the field last season, buried in the depth chart behind the Redskins’ other pass rushers.
In December, coach Jay Gruden said he expects all rookies to make a significant jump in Year 2 — including “what they need to do with their body in the offseason to get ready for the second year.”
When Anderson showed up to the team’s voluntary workouts Monday, teammate Ryan Kerrigan has noticed a change in Anderson “in a good way.”
“That’s not to say that he was doing the wrong things before, but I think he’s just doing the right things more frequently and with more consistency,” Kerrigan said. “Those daily decisions that he’s making to do things that are taking care of his body, those are paying off and I think will continue to pay off for him.”
Anderson, a former Alabama standout, played in 14 games last year, recording 15 tackles. He missed the last two games with a knee injury.
