The Washington Nationals may be having a tough start to the 2018 season, going just 7-9 in their first 16 games, but they now have two of the first three National League Player of the Week awards this year.

Max Scherzer was named NL Player of the Week Monday for winning two starts last week, striking out 21 batters and walking just one. He maintained a 1.13 ERA in that span and also stole a base for the first time in his career.

Adam Eaton won the same award after Major League Baseball’s opening weekend in March and early April.

Scherzer (3-1) leads the majors with 38 strikeouts and has walked just four batters all season. His next start will likely come this weekend against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
