DETROIT (AP) - People in southeastern Michigan are being asked their perspectives on work-related issues in the region.
The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments and Metropolitan Affairs Coalition have put together a survey about changes in the employment picture, future in-demand skills and how they relate to evolutions in the economy and technology.
Residents’ responses are expected to identify changing needs in the workforce and help guide planning efforts of a future skills task force.
Metropolitan Affairs Coalition president and SEMCOG executive director Kathleen Lomako says “technology is transforming the economy and, as a result, many American jobs are becoming obsolete.”
SEMCOG supports coordinated local planning with technical, data and intergovernmental resources. It serves Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties.
