BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - Gonzaga forward Jill Barta of Fairfield was picked in the third round of the WNBA Draft and was quickly traded to the defending champion Minnesota Lynx.

Barta, who will graduate with a degree in special education, had decided to forgo her senior season of eligibility and either play basketball or start teaching.

The decision was made Thursday night when she was chosen by the Las Vegas Aces as the 32nd pick overall. She told The Billings Gazette it was announced on TV that she was being traded to the Lynx even before her agent knew.

WNBA training camps begin on April 29 and the regular season starts on May 18. The Lynx roster includes Sylvia Fowles, Maya Moore and Seimone Augustus.

Barta helped Fairfield High School to a 104-0 record and four state championships and is the fourth-leading scorer in Gonzaga history with 1,620 points.
