GROTON, Conn. (AP) - Authorities have ended a lockdown of the Navy submarine base in Connecticut after determining that an unattended package was not a threat.

The base in Groton had been closed to all but essential personnel Wednesday morning as authorities investigated a report of a suspicious package.

The base is the primary East Coast homeport for Navy attack submarines.
