LAS VEGAS (AP) - An ex-convict has been sentenced to three to 10 years in prison after admitting he threw an unprovoked punch that killed a man in downtown Las Vegas last year.

Clark County District Judge Douglas Herndon on Tuesday sentenced 28-year-old James Beach in the death of 45-year-old Luis Campos.

Beach could be eligible for parole in about two years after getting credit for time served at the county’s detention center.

Beach pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in February under a deal with prosecutors. He was originally charged with murder and intimidating a witness.

Campos, a father of five from La Puente, California, was in Las Vegas for a bachelor party when Beach punched him outside a bar. He never regained consciousness after falling to the sidewalk died four days later.
