WASHINGTON (AP) - Police say a man who carjacked a nun in Washington, D.C. has been charged.

Metropolitan police tell news outlets that 20-year-old Brandon Brown approached the nun, brandished a handgun and demanded that she hand over the keys to her car on Monday. Police say she complied, and he fled in the vehicle.

Police spotted the woman’s car. Brown exited the vehicle and ran away from the scene but was apprehended after a brief chase. A gun was recovered.

A police news release says Brown was charged with armed carjacking and carrying a pistol without a license. It is unclear if he has a lawyer.
