FALMOUTH, Mass. (AP) - It is still unknown what led to the deaths of two harbor seals that died within days of each other at a Massachusetts aquarium.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration officials tell The Cape Cod Times (https://bit.ly/2vSGM8v ) that necropsies on 15-year-old LuSeal and 10-year-old Bumper from the Woods Hole Science Aquarium in Falmouth were inconclusive.

Spokeswoman Teri Frady said Thursday a variety of tests were done on their water and food. All were negative for viruses, infections and toxins.

The aquarium closed for two days in July after the deaths.

Aquarium officials say LuSeal became sick July 1 and died of respiratory and heart failure the next day. Bumper started showing similar symptoms a week later and died July 13.
