SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Officials are identifying a double homicide suspect killed in a shootout with police as a 41-year-old Sacramento man.
Sacramento police say Eric Arnold was being sought in last week’s slayings of his 45-year-old girlfriend and her 17-year-old daughter when he was killed Thursday.
He was publicly identified by police and the county coroner on Friday.
Two Sacramento police officers were struck by gunfire when police say Arnold began shooting as they were trying to make the arrest. One officer remains hospitalized while the other is recovering at home.
The gunbattle in south Sacramento came as hundreds of other officers were attending a memorial service in suburban Roseville for Sacramento County sheriff’s Deputy Robert French. French was killed in an unrelated shootout at a Sacramento hotel last week.
