SEATTLE (AP) - A 34-year-old man has been charged in a fatal shooting inside a tent at a Seattle homeless encampment.

The Seattle Times reports that Daniel Markishtum, who also appears to be homeless, was arrested in Pioneer Square last Saturday. He remains jailed in lieu of $1 million bail.

Markishtum faces a charge of second-degree murder in the shooting death of 31-year-old Anthony Leon Moss on Aug. 22 during an argument inside Moss’ tent beneath the West Seattle Bridge.

The charging papers filed Thursday say the bullet that killed Moss also grazed the face of another man who had tried to mediate the argument, which began when Moss confronted Markishtum about stealing something from his tent.

Markishtum does not appear to have been appointed an attorney.
