ASHBURN, Virginia — Washington Redskins receiver Jamison Crowder said he’s been preparing all week as if he’s going to play Sunday, and was even surprised to learn that he’s listed as questionable with a hip flexor injury.
“No, there’s no concern,” Crowder said. “I’ll be ready.”
Not so fast, coach Jay Gruden said.
“Yeah, he’s a concern. Anybody who’s questionable is a concern. So, we have another day of treatment — recovery — and we’ll see how he is tomorrow,” Gruden said.
Ryan Anderson (neck stinger) and Spencer Long (knee) were also limited in practice Friday and are listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Eagles. Junior Galette (hamstring), Josh Doctson (hamstring) and Montae Nicholson (shoulder) all were full participants all week.
Crowder didn’t appear on the injury report until Thursday, when he was also listed as limited with a hip flexor injury. Crowder called it “nothing major” and said he’ll do what he needs to in order to recover in time.
“I mean, just trying to get my body ready just cold tub, hot tub, whatever I have to do,” Crowder said. “Like I said, it wasn’t nothing major from the get-go, it was just a little minor injury that you know, I planned this whole week to play Sunday.”
If that doesn’t happen, though, Ryan Grant would take over the bulk of the work as the Redskins slot receiver.
“[Grant’s] got a lot of versatility,” offensive coordinator Matt Cavanaugh said. “He can play all three positions, he’s experienced — so it’s a nice luxury. It won’t necessarily mean he’s not going to get on the field if Jamison is playing, he’s going to get work, so we’re excited about that.”
