FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Although student workers and temporary employees at Northern Arizona University will soon be getting a raise, their wages will still be $2 below Flagstaff’s minimum wage.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports (https://bit.ly/2f97FKG ) the student workers and temporary employees’ pay will be increased by the end of October. University President Rita Cheng said in a statement that wages for its lowest-paid student and temporary employees will be raised to $8.50 an hour.

In Flagstaff, the minimum wage is $10.50, however state and federal workers are exempt local wage laws.

According to the report, the lowest-paid student worker receives $8.05 an hour. Cheng says 25 percent of student workers will see a raise.
