PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - A longtime ally of Republican Maine Gov. Paul LePage is joining the state governor’s race.
The Portland Press Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2vLxc7b ) 53-year-old Ken Fredette announced his run Wednesday morning at his law offices.
Fredette is barred from seeking re-election as the House minority leader due to term limits.
He says he plans to run on his military experience as an officer in the state Air National Guard and his 30 years of working for Republican candidates.
Fredette is the third Republican to enter the race. He will run against Senate Majority Leader Garrett Mason and former Health and Human Services Commissioner Mary Mayhew.
There are currently 13 candidates in the race.
