TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The University of Arizona plans to begin construction on a $137 million honors college complex in December.
The Arizona Daily Star reports (https://bit.ly/2xQUvfC ) the Arizona Board of Regents OK’d the project Thursday.
University officials say the complex primarily will house first-year honors students. It will include a 1,056-bed residence hall, dining areas, recreation, and parking and academic facilities. Officials say it’s needed to recruit and retain the best students.
The complex is expected to be complete in August 2019.
The university is partnering with private developer American Campus Communities on the project. It’s funded through system revenue bonds and parking reserve funds.
