Immigration agents have arrested hundreds of illegals in sanctuary cities around the nation, and the message this sends the world of would-be illegals is this: Stay home.

At long last. After eight years of Barack Obama rolling out the red carpet to those who don’t legally belong here, America finally has a White House that’s upholding some border laws.

ICE arrested 167 in and around Los Angeles. And those 167 were just a drop in the bucket of the 500 or so ICE has rounded up at choice spots around the nation in recent days.

The roundup comes on the heels of White House insistence that sanctuary cities lose the sanctuary label and start cooperating with federal officials in weeding out the criminal illegals. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, for instance, says local law enforcement officials ought to help out feds when it comes to detaining and processing illegals for possible deportation — but some local police agencies have refused to hold illegals for federal pickup. Why?

That’s a great question.

One would think law enforcement folk in the business of enforcing law would be only too willing to help feds enforce border laws. It’s no coincidence most sanctuary spots are headed by leftist leaders.

The failure to uphold law is leaving the American citizen in considerable danger.

More than 300 of those who were just arrested had some kind of criminal conviction — 90 alone for drunken driving. One, according to ICE, was a gang member who “rammed multiple law enforcement vehicles in an effort to evade arrest” and was ultimately apprehended with a loaded gun.

You’d think the liberals would be screaming for more gun control at least, yes?

“Sanctuary jurisdictions that do not honor detainers or allow us access to jails and prisons are shielding criminal aliens from immigration enforcement and creating a magnet for illegal immigration,” Tom Homan, acting ICE director, said in a statement.”

That’s it, in a nutshell.

These roundups of illegals do more, much more, than remove criminal illegals from the streets. They send the strong, no-nonsense message to other nations that lawbreakers aren’t welcome — and that America, under this administration, will actually back that message with action. Just think of all the would-be illegals who’ve been stopped in their tracks by that realization, and reversed decision on crossing into America. That’s the real border control, right there, the kind that works.
