BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - In a story Sept. 29 about a proposed fracking moratorium, The Associated Press reported erroneously the name of the group that plans to drill inside the city of Lafayette. A company called 8 North LLC, a subsidiary of Extraction Oil and Gas LLC, has applied for a state permit, not the Colorado Oil and Gas Association.

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - City documents say Lafayette is considering implementing a yearlong moratorium that would halt any new and pending oil and gas development applications within city limits.
The Daily Camera reports (https://bit.ly/2fu9sdg) the proposed regulation outlined in documents released Thursday comes after 8 North LLC, a subsidiary of Extraction Oil and Gas LLC, announced plans to drill in the heart of the city.
According to city documents, Lafayette is also considering hiring a lawyer that would help the city navigate new regulations on oil and gas.
Other similar efforts by Lafayette and the city Longmont have fallen through, which suggests Lafayette could face a potentially costly lawsuit if it passes the ordinance.
The city is set to hear the first reading of the proposed ordinance Tuesday.
Representatives of the Colorado Oil and Gas Association, an industry group, could not be reached for comment.
