HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A California-based aerospace company can move ahead with a project that will bring more than 700 jobs to north Alabama after the Huntsville City Council approved plans for the deal.
Council members voted Thursday to approve a development agreement with Aerojet Rocketdyne, which is planning a headquarters operation and manufacturing plant in Huntsville.
The two facilities will cost about $28 million total, and the company will have a 30-year lease on both sites.
Aerojet Rocketdyne is building engines for NASA’s SLS deep-space rocket, which is being developed in part at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville.
The agreement includes incentives to help the company if it brings additional jobs to the area.
