Pegged appropriately enough for a #ThrowbackThursday, Spotify has unveiled a new personalized playlist it says will help you recapture your youth.

Dubbed “Your Time Capsule” and generated by proprietary algorithms based on your listening history, the personalized playlist will “take you back in time to your teenage years,” according to the Sweden-based streaming service.

Your correspondent took a look at what Spotify ginned up for him and it’s somewhat accurate in terms of hit songs from the relevant time frame (1992-1999), although 12 of the tracks generated were hits from the 1980s, and three or four were from 1990 or 1991.

The tracks ran the gamut when it came to genres and appeared to be essentially a condensed assortment of tracks often played from personalized Daily Mixes.

Daily Mixes, by the way, premiered on Spotify exactly one year ago Wednesday.

Spotify is available free — with advertising, natch — or ad-free with subscription both online and via smartphone apps for iOS and Android devices.
