WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. (AP) - A high school in the Pittsburgh suburbs has put an unnamed assistant coach on leave while it investigates a report he engaged in “inappropriate behavior” with a former student.
West Mifflin School District Superintendent Daniel Castagna (kah-STAN’-yah isn’t naming the coach or detailing the allegations except to say it was “conduct unbecoming, conduct that we agree is a mortal sin in public education.”
Castagna says the coach is cooperating with the investigation, which began as soon as the district heard about the allegations on Wednesday.
Criminal charges have yet to be filed. The coach is working with police after the superintendent says the employee “came forward and fully disclosed the information.”
West Mifflin is a few miles from downtown Pittsburgh, along the Monongahela River.
