PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A vote on a proposed hotel in Providence has been delayed by the I-195 commission amid concerns from local business owners.

The Providence Journal reports that the I-195 Redevelopment District Commission had previously planned to vote on the proposal Tuesday. Massachusetts developer Gerald Fandetti released the project last spring. The proposed 60-foot-high riverside hotel would include 52 rooms, a restaurant and art gallery.

Critics of the project say the proposed hotel is too large and would affect the property value of neighboring buildings.

A lawyer representing Fandetti says he is disappointed the commission didn’t vote on the hotel.

The commission is scheduled to vote on the project at their next meeting on Oct. 16.
