Filmmaker Spike Lee told a Gold Star family Wednesday evening that he more fears the U.S. starting a nuclear war than he does North Korea.

The mother and father of Staff Sgt. Louis Bonacasa, a soldier killed in Afghanistan, questioned Mr. Lee during a CNN town-hall meeting on “Patriotism, the Players and the President” and the director curtly told them that their “narrative that you spoke about is not true” and that protesting NFL players have said they respect the flag and the national anthem.

Dissatisfied with that answer, Vincent Bonacasa then asked Mr. Lee whose side he and/or the NFL players were on.

“When North Korea fires a missile at us, are these football players gonna be on their knees?” he asked, prompting Mr. Lee to interject “say that again?”

After Mr. Bonacasa did, Mr. Lee called President Trump as much of a threat as North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.

“I’m worried just as much Donald Trump as that crazy guy in North Korea. And he has the nuclear codes. I’m worried about that,” Mr. Lee replied.
