BARRE, Vt. (AP) - Vermont school officials have reached an agreement with an educational assistants’ union after five hours of negotiations.
Barre Supervisory Union Superintendent John Pandolfo tells The Times Argus (https://bit.ly/2k2Zzs0 ) both sides were able to reach an agreement after a mediation session Monday night.
The settlement covers 125 paraeducators employed at schools in Barre and Barre Town, Spaulding High School and the Central Vermont Career Center.
While the details of the agreement have not been released, the issues at the center of discussion were wages, health insurance and the contract length.
Pandolfo says the settlement, if ratified, will replace the contract that ended June 30.
The union’s lead negotiator could not be reached as of Tuesday.
