ATLANTA (AP) - The panel that certifies law enforcement officers has voted to revoke the law enforcement license of a Georgia sheriff accused of exposing himself to a police officer in an Atlanta park.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Georgia Peace Officer Standards Training Council voted unanimously Wednesday to revoke DeKalb County Sheriff Jeffrey Mann’s license. The newspaper reports that state law would require him to be removed from office if the license is revoked.
Mann was arrested May 5 and pleaded guilty in July to obstruction and prohibited conduct. He was sentenced to pay $2,000 in fines, ordered to serve 80 hours of community service and banished from city parks for six months.
Mann has 30 days to appeal the revocation decision, which doesn’t take effect until the appeal process ends.
