ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) - A Quebec business that makes among other products automatic braking systems for wheelchairs and rolling walkers has opened a branch in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom town of St. Johnsbury.
Republican Gov. Phil Scott announced Monday that Pratiko Inc., of Richmond, Quebec, had opened its first U.S. location at the Charles E. Carter Business Resource Center.
Vermont officials say Pratiko chose Vermont after a nationwide search for a location that included Maine, Massachusetts, Virginia, Texas and New York.
Pratiko says that the initial focus of the Vermont location will be to facilitate the sales of its products.
There was no immediate word on how many employees Pratiko had at its St. Johnsbury location.
